- Why do I need a Credit Card to Book Online?+
This is to help us reserve your appointment time in our booking system. As well as helping our team keep up with our cancellation policy.
- What is your cancellation policy?+
We require 24 hours cancellation or rescheduling notice before your scheduled appointment. If we do not receive 24 hours cancellation notice we will give you one warning. If this is a continuing occurrence, we will charge you 50% of the cost of your scheduled service in order to compensate for the service providers time in order to book any future appointments.
- What does it mean to be a Green Circle Salon & how is my eco fee used?+
We’ve partnered with Green Circle Salon Group, a company dedicated to helping the Salon and Spa industry reduce waste and the its impact on the planet. Through this partnership Zazou takes proud in the ability to recycle 98% of it’s waste. Not only does Green Circle recycle all of our paper and plastic, they also recycle items the municipality won’t accept. Stuff like our foils, colour tubes – even the little plastic lids on the colour tubes, any waste chemicals that doesn’t make it onto your head, and you guessed it – your hair will be used to make hair mats and booms to aid in the clean-up of oil spills, an even greater step to aid our planet.
Your eco fee helps support our ability to keep our waste to 2% which helps limit everyone’s impact on the planet.
- Why do your haircuts range in price?+
Our haircut prices range from $40 to $120+. Our prices are based on the stylist’s salon and industry experience as well as any additional training or credentials. See our Services Menu
- Is a blowdry included in the cost of a haircut?+
Yes, as well as a scalp massage. Any hot tool use (curling iron or flat iron) requires additional time and an charge of $20 will apply. If you would like no hair no cut and only shampoo, scalp massage, blowdry and style the cost is $45.
- Is a blowdry style included in the cost of a colour service without a haircut?+
With all colour services that do not include a haircut we offer a 15 minute complimentary express blow dry that removes moisture from the hair so you can see what your colour looks like. If you are looking for an additional style we charge a blow dry and style fee due to the additional time required, approx 30 to 45 minutes, for $45 – $55+. If you have long or thick hair this may require more time and can increase the price, which will be quoted by your stylist. This service includes a round brush or flat brush dry and style. Any hot tool use (curling iron or flat iron) requires additional time and is added on for an additional $20.
- What is the cost for Event Styling and what should I do to prepare for the service?+
Event Styling starts at $75 and can increase depending on the complexity of the style desired and the amount of time it will take. Before coming in for your event styling service we do ask that you wash your hair the day before and arrive for your appointment with clean dry hair. We also suggest that you wear a button up, or a zip up shirt that is easy to take off so that when you go to change you do not ruin your hair in the process.
- What makes Zazou different?+
Zazou Salon & Academy believes in sustainability and environmental awareness. We use natural products that are less damaging to the environment and we align ourselves with distributors who also believe in sustainability. Zazou participates in many fundraisers and sponsors numerous community events. Zazou provides services in an intimate, comfortable environment and we guarantee all our products and services 100%.
- What kind of products do you use?+
For colour services we use La Biosthetique colour. La Biosthetique hair colour is 92% naturally derived. For fashion and creative colours we use a vegan colour line called Staino. We carry La Biosthetique hair care, skincare, scalp care and Belevance make up products from France. We carry Evo Hair Products from Australia that uses sugar cane for their packaging which requires less CO2 emissions to produce therefore reducing their carbon footprint. We also use Davines, a line from Italy that is all natural and packaged in environmentally friendly, reusable containers and is B Corp Certified. As we offer Hair Extension services with Great Lengths and EasiHairPro we carry the complimentary retail products. For our smoothing treatments we use Kode Professional. We also retail hot tools from Aria hairdryers and carry trendy local products seasonally. For a full list visit, Products We Love
- Do you offer children’s pricing? +
No, our prices are the same for children and adults. We offer the same time, care and service experience for both children and adults.
- Is colour safe for pregnancy?+
Colour will be fine if you are pregnant, however, if you feel uncomfortable with it we do suggest that you have highlights done instead of a solid colour. This is because a solid colour is applied directly to your scalp, highlights are foiled into the hair away from the scalp. We do use La Biosthetique colour which is 92% naturally derived, and has the lowest amount of ammonia content compared to any other colour product on the market. However, if you are at all uncomfortable we recommend speaking with your family doctor before scheduling an appointment.
- Should I arrive early for my appointment? +
We do ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes early for your appointment in order to fill out any necessary forms and to have a chance to peruse our latest products before your service. This also helps to ensure that you receive all the time you have scheduled for your service. Should you arrive late for your service, we may not be able to complete your full service.
- Do we do hair extensions? +
Yes, we do Great Lengths bonded hair extensions, EasiHairPro Tape-ins, Global Hair Clip-ins, and i-Tip hair extensions. We use the best quality Remy hair for the extensions. Before booking, you must come in for an extension consultation with a recommended extension technician to establish what you would like to have done, how long it will take, and cost. We do extension removals as well. See Hair Extensions.
- Where do I park?+
Lynn Valley: We have free underground parking at Mountain Highway and Ross Road.
Lonsdale: Restricted street parking up to 2 hours is available on 18th or 19th and Lonsdale. 1 hour restricted parking is available on Lonsdale. Unrestricted street parking is available on Chesterfield or St. Georges from 18th up. Unrestricted parking is available on the north side of 20th and Lonsdale.
- Do you guarantee your products and services? +
Yes, we guarantee our products and services 100%. If you are unsatisfied with your salon service, we guarantee a complimentary redo if you call within 14 days of your initial service. We then book you in for a redo with your stylist. If you have changed your mind about your haircut style or colour originally requested and agreed upon than we would book you in for another chargeable hair service. We cannot guarantee colour services from fading if you do not use professional haircare products due to the fact that non-professional hair products have the potential to strip your hair colour. This is why our stylists will always recommend a professional salon haircare product because it will help preserve your colour. For hair products, we do guarantee satisfaction. You may return them for store credit or exchange within 2 weeks of original purchase and the bottle must be half full or more. Hot tools (hair straighteners and blowdryers) are guaranteed at Zazou within a month of purchase. After one month the warranty goes to the manufacturer for the first year of use.
- Do you do make up applications? +
Currently we are not offering make up applications due to COViD Safety Protocols. We hope to start re-introducing this service come the holiday season.
In normal times we do offer make up applications with our Belevance La Biosthetique biomimetic make up for the skin. Make up applications range in price from $55-$75. We would also offer a complimentary make up touch up at the end of every service that includes blush and lip gloss. Please note, make up appointments require advance notice as we schedule our make up artist based on demand.
- Am I able to schedule my appointment with a student in the Academy? +
Students are in different stages throughout the program. They require models for specific classes and practice. However, they do not have specific days for booking appointments. Generally, models are required Monday morning from 10am – 5pm. You may place your name on a list with general information about your hair and what you would like to have done and they will contact you if your needs suit the current skillset they’re practicing.

- Do you offer hair smoothing treatments or perming?+
Yes, we offer the Kode Smoothing Treatment. This unique service is rich in anti-oxidants that repairs and restores dry and damaged hair, preventing frizz and providing incredible colour and heat protection. For more information visit Za Blog – for more straighten service info
Both services require a complimentary consultation prior to booking in to determine price, longevity and to do possible strand tests if your hair is currently chemically treated. Please visit our service menu for pricing.
