The Importance of Ethically Sourced Hair

Not all extensions are created equally.

We make the promise that all extensions provided at Zazou are ethically sourced. Period.

So, what does “ethically sourced” even mean? It means that all hair is donated by an individual that has given their consent and has been paid an equitable wage for their donation. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. to begin, hair is expensive. To save on costs, some companies collect fallen hair from hair clippings or fallout found in brushes and combs. Not only is this method unhygenic, it also sacrifices the quality of hair and will never feel natural. Sadly, this is not the worst of it. Because demand far outweighs supply in the hair industry, some try to find shortcuts to cut their costs and make more money; even if it at the expense of others. The industry is vastly underregulated resulting in women being manipulated, stolen from, or even kidnapped to make a profit from their hair.

Women in many third world countries are desperate for money and agree to cut their hair and sell it for a grossly low profit. Many times, they never see a cent back for their deal. When seeing hair extensions being offered at a price that seems too good to be true, it probably is.
