2020 has been a roller coast of a year. Everyone knows that. We thought we’d reflect back on everything that happened this year. The ups and downs, the curve balls and some really cool celebrations. The biggest thing the team at Zazou would like to express is how incredibly grateful we are for the support and patience from our community and our guests.
Here are the highlights of 2020 in chronological order!
- Ireland – Phorest Summit
- Zazou Xmas Party – Last time we could all be together
- Emma had her beautiful baby Agatha!
- North Shore News Reader’s Choice Awards Gala – Won Favourite Hair Salon
- Pink Shirt Day – The last group activity before we closed!
- On March 18th our PHO issued the order to close.
- During this time the Leadership Team worked hard to figure out our ‘New Normal’ protocols to open safely.
- Had many a zoom meeting with the team.
- We were featured in the Vancouver Sun, Global News, Toronto Star and the Province (to name a few).
- A second Health Order was issued to remain closed for a second month.
- Our team was BeautySafe Certified.
- Re-opened on May 20th with restricted scheduling and our new COVID Safety protocols.
- The leads safely were able to go on our Bi-annual Lead Retreat in Osoyoos to continue strategic planning for the remainder of the year.
- May, June and July we saw an insane number of guests all with crazy quarantine hair in need of some TLC.
- We were announced as Semi-Finalists for Best New Hairstylist in the Contessa National Hairdressing Awards.
- We were announced as Finalists for the John Steinberg Community Contribution Awards in the Contessa National Hairdressing Awards.
- We won The Corporate Livewire Canada Prestige Awards for Favourite Hair Salon!
- Sunny returned from Maternity leave!
- In October we finalized the purchase of our second location at 1820 Lonsdale Avenue.
- Received the key for our Lonsdale location – celebrated with champagne!
- Bruce makes the first mark in the wall at the new location.
- The leads have one last opportunity to celebrate in our bubble before new restrictions were put in place a month later!
- Celebrated the birthday twins! Bruce and Janine share a birthday and were treated with champagne.
- Halloween at Zazou! We could still dress up while at work!
- Throughout November we worked hard to renovate the new salon space in preparation to open.
- Team orientations happened in small groups as we all got ready to open!
- On December 2nd we opened our doors at our new location on Lonsdale!
- Bruce did the first haircut at Lonsdale.
- Jacqui returned from maternity leave!
- We planted 200 trees over Christmas to help protect our local forests!
- We decorated our Christmas trees at the Dundarave Festival of Lights and in Lynn Valley Village.
- Celebrated Christmas Eve as a team on our last day of work before Christmas!
