We started our journey in 2016, at a time when “plastic-free” and “zero-waste”, wasn’t the popular choice, and we knew that we could change that! We’re passionate about spreading eco-awareness and helping others cut down on common single-use items and excessive packaging waste (shampoo really doesn’t need to be in a bottle, you’ll see!), all without compromising quality and performance. Finding zero-waste alternatives for every day items is easier than you might think: join us in living life, “unwrapped”.
Ban the bottle.
Plastic waste (often found in packaging) is a BIG problem, and something as consumers, we need to start refusing! Did you know that only 9% of plastics are actually recycled and that over 79% of plastics ever produced are accumulating in landfills and waterways (that should be reason enough, but let’s keep going!) In the US alone, more than 552 million shampoo bottles are estimated to end up in landfills annually. Make the switch to solid shampoo + conditioner bars; no waste, great hair and no compromises. Luckily at Zazou we partner with brands where their packaging is recyclable 😉
Doing it differently.
In every aspect of our business we assess the environmental impact of our decisions, be it ingredients, manufacturing, and even shipping. We don’t accept returns, and here’s why. The environmental impact of reverse shipping creates over 5 billion pounds of landfill waste annually, and results in 5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions (yes, really!). We ask that you, our customers, use what you have, buy only what you need and ask lots of questions before making a purchase. Our excessive ‘throw-away’ behaviour is a driving force behind the growing plastic epidemic, and it’s our behaviour towards plastic that needs to change, NOW.

The Fixer Shampoo/Conditioner – $22 each
- A combination of: soothing lavender, a touch of sweet basil, and the deep warmth of cedar wood essential oils, and super-power ingredients – stinging nettle extract and rosemary essential oil – you’ll reduce scalp inflammation, neutralize free radical damage and oxidative stress, all while blocking DHT to help prevent hair loss. Hair is left feeling, stronger and more resilient: ready for whatever you can throw at it!
The Balancer Shampoo/Conditioner – $22 each
- With turmeric and calendula, this bar not only normalizes hair follicle activity, it also promotes stronger hair by amping up collagen production and providing nutrition to your roots. Calming neroli, and a hint of sweet orange essential oil, combine to create a subtle and neutral scent. The oils provide added hair and scalp benefits that include: dandruff prevention, cell rejuvenation, and hair growth stimulation.
The Hydrator Shampoo/Conditioner – $22 each
- With colloidal oatmeal and amla oil, the Hydrator works to soothe scalp ailments, including dryness, eczema, psoriasis, and rashes; and we all know that a healthy scalp makes for healthy hair. Chock full of vitamin B and the natural polysaccharide beta glucan, which acts as an emollient, the colloidal oatmeal delivers shine, moisture and damage repair, making your hair less brittle and more elastic with each use. Coupled with amla oil, which is used in Ayurvedic medicine to stimulate the hair follicle and encourage growth, these nourishing ingredients provide a perfect environment for long and healthy hair. This is a plus for curly and kinky hair types, which tend to be more prone to mechanical and manipulation damage.
